The Perfect Gift

I was reminded tonight how nice the simple gesture of taking someone dinner who has recently had a baby or moved is.  My head is still spinning from the whirl wind I have lived the past 2 weeks. To quickly catch you up, we moved all our stuff out of our house and into the garage of our new house last Sunday, lived at my in-laws for 4 days, closed on our new house Wednesday then left for Florida Thursday. We returned Thursday evening to our new house and have had family help us unpack since. Saturday night our friends called us up and said they’d bring over dinner (thanks Jeff and Jackie)! It was not only great to catch up, but having dinner brought over was wonderful!!  This afternoon our new friendly neighbor saw us unloading more boxes from my husband’s truck and came over to introduce herself and tell us she would bring dinner over for us tonight!  This was the PERFECT “house warming” gift!
This got me thinking of all the people who brought dinner over for us after we had Kylee. It really was a perfect gift and I can only hope it happens again after baby girl #2 arrives in September!  If you are trying to figure out what to give someone who has just had a baby- I would say a meal! Having dinner brought over saves so much time and stress for new mamas!  They will never forget that gift!

Yes! One of our friends, did a meal schedule with both girls. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we would get a meal. Normally the meal was big enough for two nights. It went on for three weeks. Let me tell you how amazing and blessed we were, and how my husband didn’t starve or spend a ton of money on take out. Also, take a meal to a pregnant friend who has another child. This makes it really easy for the mother to be and the family. Such blessings in life :)

What a great friend to have done that schedule for you! I’m sure that was truly amazing to have that for 3 weeks! Yes, it’s so easy to do take out when there’s nothing around the house to make or when you don’t have time to make a meal, and it does get so expensive!
