I dislike waking up on a cold winter morning and having to walk across the cold kitchen floor to find something for breakfast (although I don’t enjoy it in the summer either). It is definitely that time of year for oatmeal! My children love eating it and it’s such an easy breakfast! Plus I know it’s a better breakfast than a bowl of Lucky Charms so I feel like a good mom first thing in the morning! I can’t eat the same kind every day so I thought I’d share some ways to change-up oatmeal.
Easy-Peasy Oatmeal
Add Coffee Creamer. This is the easiest way to add a ton of flavor to oatmeal. I buy French Vanilla and add a few Tablespoons. It’s so easy and so good!
Overnight Crockpot Oatmeal
What could be better than waking up to a warm, already cooked breakfast?!
Vanilla Chai Oatmeal
1 Cup Steel Cup Oatmeal (NOT quick oats)
4 Cups Water
1/2 Cup Half and Half or Milk
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon Cloves
1/4 teaspoon cardamom
1/4 teaspoon Ginger
Pinch of salt and pepper
Spray crackpot with nonstick spray. Add all ingredients. Cook for 8 hours on low.
DIY Instant Oatmeal
I ran across this recipe last year and I LOVE it! So much cheaper and healthier than packets of oatmeal! No credit for me, check out the original recipe here.
Basic Oatmeal Recipe
5 cups instant oats
1/3 t salt
3 t cinnamon
1/2 t nutmeg
5 T granulated sugar or brown sugar, optional
Add 1 part oatmeal to 2 parts water. Microwave for 1 1/2 minutes.

I actually had some oatmeal this morning before I read this. So I am happy that you wrote a blog about it, because I need some yummy recipes!! Thanks!
Do you have any good recipes?!
I have been fixing oatmeal a lot lately! It seems to be the only thing my 8 month old will eat for breakfast. I usually add brown sugar and milk but I love the idea of coffee creamer (for me)! I have been wanting to try the crock pot oatmeal too. I may add some delicious honeycrisp apples to it. Another added benefit for mommas that are breastfeeding is that oatmeal helps to maintain and increase your milk supply!
