Recently Joe and I tried out Symposium Cafe for a date night and what a treat it was. We really decided to live it up that night with drinks, appetizer, dinner, and even DESSERT! Besides the wonderful food the service and ambiance were a great setting for a night of catching up and enjoying each other’s company.
Symposium has a wonderful drink special that Joe and I took part in:
You read that sign right Buy one martini get the second one half off from 4pm to 7pm daily! What a great way to relax with your mom, husband or a table full of girlfriends!
Our appetizer was wonderful as well we dined on Calamari which was hot and fresh with a homemade sauce. If you have never had calamari, it is lightly breaded rings, cooked golden brown and served with lemon and cocktail dipping sauce. A Symposium specialty! What a treat to experience food that hadn’t been packaged or frozen but that was made hot and fresh for us!
Next up is what really made out evening so memorable and that is that the server didn’t rush us to order during our appetizer or bring out our salads and then dinner right after she let us enjoy every corse and talk what a treat for this mom and dad!
Joe dined on the Asian Pork Tenderloin for dinner
Joe’s favorite part of the meal was that is was nice and hot when it was served and the delicious ginger and soy sauce that topped the pork tenderloin. It isn’t often that you find homemade sauces at restaurants today but Symposium is one of them!
Erin’s dinner choice: Tuna Steak done rare
This dinner was highly recommend by the server and I love hearing what the servers suggest because I feel like they are such a wonderful gage on the food and what are the best items on the menu. initially when she suggested the Tuna rare I was hesitant but I am so glad I went for it and tried it. It was perfectly cooked and again the meal included a homemade sauce of wasabi cream which I could have licked off my plate it the restaurant hadn’t been full of other patrons!
Did I forget to mention that when you enter Symposium you are greeted with this:
Who doesn’t love to think about dessert and if you have lived here in the Quad Cities Symposium has always been known for the delicious cakes and crepes that they serve! The rumor is right they are baked locally and are so yummy you will be arranging playdates that include a piece of something from the case here just a few of the yummy deserts that were coming from the kitchen we were in:
So whether you are looking for a night out with the hubby, a mid-week girls get-together, a special place to take Mom on Mother’s Day Symposium offers a great location with a knowledgable staff and local homemade food that will leave everyone wanting to come back to try the next item on the menu!
