On July 6, 2012, the Huzz and I celebrated ten years of marriage!!! I told the Huzz before we even married that every ten years I wanted to renew our vows. I wasn’t sure if we’d really do it, but I’m so glad we did!
We had a private ceremony at Harvest Bible Chapel Davenport. It was just the pastor, my little family of three, my in-laws, and our sitter, who was kind enough to be our photographer. A very small group. The first time we were married, we hired a justice of the peace, and while our vows were heartfelt, they were very generic. This time, we renewed our vows with a pastor we love and we picked out our vows. We didn’t write them, but had a ton to pick from and found a set of vows that were perfect for us. I feel like this time around our vows were so special. We were recommitting to each other with ten years of experience behind us. We really know what for better or worse and in sickness and in health means.
After our beautiful and intimate ceremony, we had a “Celebration Dinner” with our closest friends. We went to SensAsian, our favorite Chinese restaurant. SensAsian was the perfect place for our small party. I made little menus for our guests and attached photos from our wedding on the front. I didn’t want to decorate too much…I wasn’t even sure what to do for a vow renewal dinner! It was a nice evening of visiting with our friends. And it was fun to be “the Bride” again.
Our vow renewal and dinner with friends was a wonderful way to celebrate ten years of marriage. To top it all off, the Huzz and I went on a romantic getaway for a few nights. I am tickled pink that we renewed our vows. (There’s my Southern heritage, y’all!)
Have you ever considered renewing your wedding vows? What do you do to celebrate your anniversary?

I love this!! I think it is so important to focus on marriage and I love that you have decided to do it every 10 years! We have talked about it, but haven’t set anything in stone. We are coming up on 8 years, so maybe 10 will be the time to do it. Congrats!!!
Congratulations!
