Sara

I am a stay at home mom of three. I have an almost four-year-old daughter, a two-year-old son, and a three-month-old son. I am home with the kids and don’t get out too much beyond errands, appointments, and play dates. With that said, I have fully embraced daily use of yoga pants or jeans. I am very conservative with my style of clothes and don’t venture out beyond jeans and basic plain colored shirts very often.

I had an amazing time throughout the whole makeover! I would be lying if I didn’t say I was nervous, but everyone was so calm and supportive it was hard to be too nervous. The “live reveal” (click on the link to see!) ended up being not as bad as I thought (although I was still shaking when the camera stopped rolling). Thank you so much to all those involved in making my day so wonderful!

Hair

by Stacey Spillum, Owner and Visionary of Hair Design at Pure Hair Studio

Sara had some amazingly thick, healthy, and all natural hair! It’s basically what all of us hairstylists dream about! Given Sara hadn’t had a haircut for about a year… it was time to take some length off!! We ended up taking about 5 inches off to take it to a popular, just below the shoulder length. Sara’s hair is very thick and heavy. So we really shagged out the ends of her hair and added a lot of texture in the interior of the cut. This will allow Sara to use Davines Sea Salt Primer in the root area and blow-dry like crazy upside down and achieve tons of volume and movement! She just needs to finish with some Davines Invisible Hairspray or add a few curls and she is set.

This was Sara’s first experience with hair color! We just wanted to give her enough of a change to be noticed but not enough to warrant a lot of maintenance. So we enhanced her natural hair color slightly to bring out a lighter base shade and accented some blonde highlights in the front around the face. As always for low maintenance but high impact, we kept the root area slightly deeper in shade and focused the highlights towards the mid to ends of the hair.

Sara gave us a fun opportunity to make some new changes to her look and gave her some quick tips to be able to achieve different looks! Thanks Sara, you are absolutely stunning!

Makeup

by Aubrey Brown, Make-Up Artist at Pure Hair Studio

Sara had pretty great skin to being with, just a little dry. I applied the Sacred Nature Day Cream first to give her a boost of hydration. Then used Youngblood’s Pearl Loose Mineral Foundation to even out her skin tone. I also used my secret concealer trick to help give her 8 hours of sleep in 10 seconds. I used the Timeless Quad to give her a natural look, while amplifying her eye color with a grey eyeliner in Slate. Creme Blush in Tropic Glow and mascara in Black Out topped it off and gave her a finished Valentine’s look.

I would love to have a Mommy makeover! I am a stay at home Mom of 3… ages 5, 4 and 8 months. Like Sara, it’s been 6+ months since my last haircut and I’ve only colored once to cover up the grays coming through. Unfortunately, my last style is gone and the grays are back! I moved back to the QCA after living in the Chicago area for 20 years. Although I’ve been here for 1.5 years, I am still making new friends and have yet to actually go out on a girl’s night. My closest friends are my sisters and mom and they definitely don’t care what I look like. :) I’d love the opportunity to change things up around here. Thanks for holding a contest like this!

I would love to win a Mommy Makeover!!! I’m about to have 3 kiddies under the age of 4 so therefore… I just don’t have any time to focus on myself and this would be a great opportunity :)

I would love and be so grateful for a makeover! I work full time outside the home and have four very active boys ages 1 to 13. Needless to say not much “me time” left over and some might say I am in a bit of a style rut ;) A little bit of pampering would be heaven sent!

I am a mother of 3. My youngest just turned 3 years old since her birth I have had 6+ surgeries, spent a little over a year on dialysis. My hair has greyed and thinned plus I have gained some weight. I am so tired and worn out.

  11. Rachel Grager March 4, 2013 at 3:12 PM #

I would love a makeover! I am a super busy mom to 2 amazing kids, ages 4 and 11 mos. I work part-time, take online classes to work towards my Bachelors degree and the rest of the time is spent taking care of my family. I have recently lost 40 lbs of pre-baby weight and am not sure what to do with myself and my new slimmer body! My husband and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary with a cruise in June and I would love to look and feel beautiful again!

I would love a makeover! There are so many heart-touching stories posted; mine seems rather dull! I’m just a mom to a 7-month old. I work part time, and spend time at home with my son. I feel like my style is in a rut, and would love to feel beautiful again!

  13. Kari uhlenkamp March 4, 2013 at 3:59 PM #

A makeover would be very fun, I need some help after having a baby and turning into a stay at home Mom of 2 kids. My hair needs help and I am loosing tons of it right now and makeup is a foreign substance I’ve never gotten the hang of

Would love a makeover! Stay at home mom of two boys! It has been six months since I had my hair cut.

  15. Nicole Dopler (via Mallary Owens) March 4, 2013 at 6:24 PM #

My cousin, Nicole has 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl, ranging from 3-10 years old. Not only is she a full time mom and wife, she is also a full time college student, trying to ensure a safe and happy life for her family! She doesn’t get much time to herself and could really use a mommy make-over! (And maybe a cocktail! )

I would like all these other ladies would love to have a make over. I think we can all agree being a stay at home mom takes a toll on our style n feeling beautiful. between practices, school events, diaper changing, and not to mention house keeping you tend to lose time for yourself!

In a rut after having a baby a year(yikes!) ago. I need help figuring out my “new” body. A makeover would be awesome!

  22. Holly Ann Newburg March 7, 2013 at 7:57 AM #

Hiya! My name is Holly Ann. I am 31 years old, and a new mom to the almost-7-months-old Willa Kate. I like to get fancied up every now and then, and it has definitely been awhile! Aside from mommy duty, I am a student at both Western Illinois University and Black Hawk College, I work as an Enrollment Services Assistant at Black Hawk, AND my husband, Lance, and I are two weeks away from closing on the purchase of our first home! Life is so busy, so, like most mommas, I seldom (at best!) get that extra 20 minutes to escape work clothes or sweatpants, tame my curly mop or paint my fingernails.

My husband Lance has not cut his beard since August, when our little Willa was born. I asked him if he would make himself over if I were to be chosen for this, and he agreed! :)

I would love a makeover. I am a mother of a 2 year old. Our first 18 months were difficult as I had birth related problems that didn’t get diagnosed correctly and fully taken care of and gone till Zoe was almost 18 months in there. I had to stop working and got meningitis in there too. We are all good now. Yeah! And we are trying to adopt a little girl named Precious from Sierra Leone so there is a lot going on in our house. But I am definitely ready for some pampering and some ideas on how to dress a body that has totally changed. :)

  25. Holly Ann Newburg March 7, 2013 at 8:05 AM #

Anyone that has met Kelli Hehlke would agree that she is a delight. She is a photographer, and has taken my maternity pics, and my daughter’s newborn and Christmas photos, as well. I was so excited when she started taking the pics for the Mommy Makeovers!

While Kelli is a natural beauty (and always looks fab, even right before AND right after having her newest little boy), I would like to nominate her for the mommy makeover because she deserves a day of pampering for herself.

I think it would be neat to give Kelli the chance to get on the other side of the camera for a day, and give the talented photographer her own time to shine! :)

I’m a mother of a 5 year old & 5 month old. I juggle bringing the babe to work with me. I run an art gallery and manage a building filled with art studios, offices and condos. On top of that we are buying our first house, moving soon and I’m trying to plan events at work & create art!

  31. Megan Ramirez March 7, 2013 at 9:24 AM #

I would absolutely love a makeover! I am mom to three beautiful girl age 10,8, and 7. I am a 5th grade teacher. I coach softball and cheerleading. I try to make extra money w an at home business to pay for my girls Cheerleading, softball, and soccer. On top of those activities my youngest daughter is handicapped and we attend lots of hours at therapy and events for her. She was recently named Iowa MDA ambassador and we have several events to attend where I am the speaker and she smiles and is cute. 34. Whitney Urfer March 7, 2013 at 2:55 PM #

Where do I begin, I am a mom of two boys, 8 and 10. We have a crazy busy schedule and are always on our way somewhere. To find a minute to look presentable just doesn’t happen. I work part time while my boys are at school, which I am very grateful for finding a job with mommy hours. However my job does not require me to dress up, my daily wardrobe is yoga pants, a tank top and my hair usually down with a headband or up in a pony tail. I cannot tell you the last time I actually wore normal clothes and put makeup on. I would be so grateful for a makeover and a fresh new look!

  35. Allison Bell March 7, 2013 at 6:26 PM #

I’m a WAHM of two girls (2.5 yrs & 10 months.) It’s been so long since I’ve had a daily hair & makeup routine, and I’m so out of practice that the last time I applied eyeliner I looked like a 12 yr old…and not in a good way! A makeover would be fabulous!
