Spring’s warm weather is finally here! It feels so good to able to spend our days outside, letting our kiddos burn off all their stored up energy after a long winter. My son loves going on ‘nature adventures’ around our yard, finding leaves and flowers, catching bugs and adding rocks to his ‘rock collection.’ We [...]
About Marie
Marie has been married to her husband, John, for five years. They met on the tennis court and quickly became doubles partners for life. The couple was blessed with their very active and spunky little boy Connor in June 2010, and look forward to the arrival of their second baby boy in January 2013. Marie is a stay-at-home mom who enjoys running (both for a workout and chasing Connor), playing tennis, volunteering locally with Special Olympics and Make-A-Wish Foundation, reading, and most of all, spending time with her family.
getting fit after baby
On May 14, 2012, I posted on the topic of staying in shape while pregnant with the help of Erica Ziel’s Prenatal Knocked-Up Fitness DVDs. The day before it posted on Quad City Moms Blog, I found out my ‘future prenatal workouts’ were not that far off…I was pregnant! As I predicted, getting in workouts with [...]

kid diy: painting placemats
My son loves to help prepare his meals, from assisting in the kitchen to setting the table. One of the highlights is picking out his placemat. This was my inspiration at the craft store when looking for a rainy day project. If you do this craft with your child early enough in the day (giving [...]

freezin’ for a reason
It’s almost been a year since the QCMB Polar Plunge team hit the icy cold waters of Wick’s Lake in Rock Island to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois. We were freezin’ for a reason and this year I’d like to invite you to join in on the fun! The 2nd Annual Law Enforcement Torch [...]

hospital bag packing list
Packing your hospital bag is an exciting part of preparing for the arrival of your little one. With my first son, I had my bag packed well in advance, only to walk past it day after day when my son was two weeks late. With my second pregnancy, I decided to hold off on packing [...]

big brother boredom bin
With Baby #2 due any day, I realize much more of my older son’s time will be spent at home during January and February. With the cold weather and germ season, I know I won’t be making as many trips out and about with both kiddos. Therefore, I decided to put together a ‘boredom bin’ [...]

getting ‘adjusted’ to a pregnant body
I am sure many moms and moms-to-be can relate to back and hip pain during pregnancy. With both of my pregnancies I experienced lower back and hip pain, but during this second pregnancy the pain was much more severe. Spending my days chasing around a two-year-old probably plays a big role, in addition to the [...]

diy: holiday crafts
Tomorrow is the first day of December and we are in full winter holiday mode at our house. The Christmas tree is up, decorations are out and as always, I added a couple new DIY crafts to our home décor. As I’ve said before in previous holiday crafting posts, I enjoy projects that are easy [...]

potty training = patience training
This past Saturday marked a fun date for our family. Our son Connor turned 29 months at the same time I was half way through week 29 with Baby #2. I normally don’t think of my toddler’s age in months anymore, but I got to thinking about his exact age when reading and preparing [...]
